    Homemade Root Beer Recipies

    DRY ICE
    Party-ready in about 15 minutes. Great for float bars and big groups.
    Ingredients

    To make 3 quarts:

    • 3 quarts (12 cups) cold water
    • 2 1/2 cups sugar
    • 2 TBSP The Big H Root Beer Extract
    • 3/4 pounds broken dry ice

    To make 3 gallons:

    • 12 quarts (48 cups) cold water
    • 10 cups (5 pounds) sugar
    • Entire bottle of the The Big H Root Beer Extract
    • 4 pounds broken dry ice
    Instructions
    1. In an open food-safe container, stir water, sugar, and extract until the sugar dissolves. Do not cover at any time.
    2. In a well-ventilated area, add broken dry ice. Stir often so it doesn’t clump on the bottom.
    3. Continue stirring until all dry ice has dissolved. For slushes, add a little more dry ice.
      Safety note: Never seal the container while carbonating. Pressure buildup can be dangerous.

    Yeast Carbonation
    Old-School Brew
    Ingredients

    For 3 quarts (bottle conditioned)

    • 3 quarts warm water
    • 2½ cups sugar
    • 2 Tbsp (¼ bottle) The Big H Root Beer Extract
    • 1/10 tsp yeast mixed with 1/5 cup warm water


    For 3 gallons (bottle conditioned)

    • 12 quarts warm water
    • 10 cups sugar
    • ½ cup (1 bottle) The Big H Root Beer Extract
    • 3/8 tsp yeast mixed with 1/3 cup warm water
    Instructions
    1. In a large container, dissolve sugar and extract in warm water.
    2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
    3. Add the yeast mixture to the root beer mixture and stir well.
    4. Pour into clean bottles, leaving about 1 inch of headspace. Cap tightly.
    5. Lay bottles on a towel at room temperature for 4 days to carbonate.
    6. Move bottles upright to the refrigerator and keep chilled until serving.
    Root Beer Ice Cream
    Creamy, nostalgic, and perfect with a pour of fresh root beer.
    Ingredients
    • 4 cups cream
    • 4 cups whole milk
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 2 Tbsp The Big H Root Beer Extract
    Instructions
    1. Whisk all ingredients until the sugar dissolves.
    2. Pour into your ice cream maker and churn until set.
    3. Serve soft right away or freeze 2 to 3 hours for firmer scoops.
